Hello, my name is Brooklyn and this is my 5th year of archery. I’m in 8th grade and I go to Carl Junction School in Missouri. One thing about me is that I have shot both 3D and Bullseye, and I used to like 3D the most. However, Bullseye has now become my favorite.
It took me time to get the hang of archery, and even now, I still struggle. I started in 4th grade, not the best, and I missed the target several times. My parents have said that I got frustrated because of how I was doing. However, once I got to 5th and 6th grade, I improved! These improvements were not always large, but they went up, point by point. Then, last year, I improved more than the year before. One fun experience that my team and I had was when we got to go to State and Eastern Nationals. This took place in Kentucky and we shot NASP®, Centershot, and IBO. So, even though I didn’t do amazing at archery in the beginning, I was still able to improve.
Now that I am in my 5th year in archery, I have some goals for the 2024 NASP® season. My first goal is to be more consistent in my form. This is important to me because it affects my shooting and some of my other goals. Another goal I have is to get a new personal record in both Bullseye and 3D. This may seem like a very “normal” goal, and it is. However, every time you get a PR, it’s an achievement. One last goal is to get a good consistent aiming point on every target, both Bullseye and 3D. This goal is important to me because it can be difficult to have all my aiming points, but I hope to find them all this year. So, these are some of the goals that I hope to achieve during the 2024 NASP® season, and beyond.
To sum it up, archery is a matter of improvement. I didn’t do very well in archery when I first started. However, I slowly improved and got better. I believe that anybody and everybody can do this, but it just might take more time for some people than others. No matter when you have started, or how far you’ve come in archery, keep going, and you will get there.
