Alayna Musson, June – On a personal level, I have made many friends in archery over the span of just four years. Some of the best of friends I have now in high school also do archery. It’s easy to make friends in archery because they already share one interest with me… ARCHERY!!!
Everyone says that friends make a great team, and I say they do. Having friends on the team mean that you get to hang out more at the practices and tournaments on the weekends. Get to hang out after school and create social groups in school. My friends and I do photo shoots with the targets and we giggle behind the line about the little things in life. Some friends I have in archery I wouldn’t have if I weren’t in archery. I will forever be grateful for that. I have been on so many archery adventures with all of my friends and I want to share some of the many experiences I got to have with them over the past four archery seasons and share with everyone reading this:
- Every year that our team goes to states or even nationals we walk around all of the vendors and sometimes get ice cream or lollipops and just chat while walking around.
- Sometimes after we have had a long day of a tournament I ask if a friend can come over for the night at the house or vice versa, nice way to relax after a tournament.
- On the way to tournaments, when we ride the bus, we all sit in the back and get the semi-truck drivers to honk their horns.
- At after-school practices, some of us would have snacks and we would share them with each other.
- Last year our team got to walk around the school before our first national tournament and I was walking with my friends during that.
- I have a friend back on the middle school team but I’m friends with him now because I helped him back in middle school when he first started Archery.
- Every year that we go to states or nationals since we live in Kentucky, we take pictures with Bullseye (The archery mascot in KY).
- This past year we had a PJ day at school and got to shoot in our PJs.
