NASP® Academic Archer Program
Opens September 1, 2017!
August 25, 2017
The National Archery in the Schools Program and Easton Technical Products announce the third year opening of the popular NASP® Academic Archer program.
In November of 2015, National NASP® leadership and a group of NASP® educators and students met to discuss ways to enhance the 16 year old program. One recommendation was to establish a uniform format to recognize and promote academic achievement for participating NASP® students. The concept of a NASP® Academic Archer was born.
In its first year of implementation, Academic Archer finished with 8,517 students enrolled. Educators from US states and two Canadian Provinces implemented the NASP® Academic Archer Program with their students. In its second year, Academic Archer achieved tremendous growth and closed out on April 30, 2017 with 19,381 students enrolled from schools in the US, Canada, and the British Virgin Islands.
“Academic Archer will go live on September 1 for the 2017-2018 school year,” said NASP® Vice President and General Manager Tommy Floyd. “We hope that every NASP® jurisdiction will enroll students in the program. “
“Our NASP® Coordinators have done a great job introducing the concept to their schools and we are extremely pleased from the feedback of this program and what it means for kids that work hard in the classroom.”
NASP® president Roy Grimes said, “It is our intention to send the strongest of messages about how teaching archery as part of the school curriculum is important to the mission of educators. As we’ve stated before, the more we emphasize in-school archery as an extension of the classroom, the more that educators can use programs like Academic Archer, as a motivational tool to reach more students! “
