My name is Nadine Davis, and I grew up in a small town in southeastern Indiana!
I joined archery my freshman year, and I have been part of the NASP® program for 3 years now! Some other activities you will find me doing is pole vaulting for my track team, crafting my way in 4-H, listening to some good ole country music, hunting and fishing, and spending time with my family.
How I got started in archery is actually a funny story. My brother joined the team before I did, and my mom and the archery coach were on my case to join the team. I was not going to because I did not want to take the spotlight away from my brother, but my mom insisted I joined.
I went to one practice and right then and there I fell in love with archery.
I will never forget the first time I shot a bow; it was terrible. The arrows were going left, right, high, and low, it seemed as if I couldn’t find the center. However, my coach helped me a lot. He taught me everything that I know, and I definitely improved.
That’s not the best part about archery to me though. Do not get me wrong, it is fun to shoot a bow, but archery is more than that.
It helps you in school and it creates lifelong friendships. Ever since archery I have noticed that my grades have improved, I am not scared to get out of my comfort zone, and I am ready to tackle any situation thrown at me.
The reason why I can do these things is because archery taught me problem solving skills, leadership skills, communication skills, focusing, and to just let go of the bad things in life. Archery can also bring people together to create friendships. I have made several friends over the years because of archery and I am very thankful for that!
For this 2022 NASP archery season my goal is to spread the word about archery, make new friends, and just better myself as a leader. I want everyone know the benefits archery has to offer, and that anyone can do it. With this I cannot wait to see what this archery season has to offer and the new memories coming our way!
