Daniel Ebner, February -Archery is a very beneficial sport and I believe that there is a lot of potential left unseen with it. The sport has so many benefits so I will go over the ones that I personally enjoy, and feel are the most important to me and to other archers I know.
Archery is amazing for positive benefits such as mental health, physical health, and many social aspects. The one that I have been the most impacted by is the social benefit of archery. It is a very inclusive environment and is open for anyone to try and start their journey with it. I have made many friends through archery, and I know more archery friends to come. Everywhere I look, this community is always willing to help with any task whether it be fixing a bow, helping with shooting form, or even just motivation.
I have gained physical strength through participating in archery, which is also very helpful for other hobbies and tasks. It is a great sport for building muscle and strength. It can also be very beneficial for staying healthy, this is because it includes aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
Archery has both mental and physical challenges and benefits, which is what makes it continually fun for me. Skills such as proper form, stance, and persistence are all acquired while being an archer. Persistence is an important factor because many things in archery require persistence. Your form requires persistence to keep your shot accurate. Then practice also takes persistence to stay skillful in the sport. Being persistent is such a strong benefit in other areas of life, such as school and work.
What encouraged me to begin archery was admiring my brother’s skill, dedication, and love for archery, which is why I feel it is important to show your own love for the sport. Seeing how much others can enjoy the sport can be the greatest motivation to start it yourself, and you can be the motivation for someone else. I have seen my brother earn scholarships by participating in archery, and he is now using them to pay for college. How great it is to have a hobby and sport that can help pay for your college?
I love the positive environment in the archery community and especially the NASP® community. Due to how positive this sport and this community is, there is constant motivation to keep going and to keep pushing to improve. Having a positive community around you, such as in the sport of archery, is invaluable, and can make your life more positive. Archery has helped me in an incredible amount of ways.
I think everyone should give archery a shot, I personally think you’ll love the challenge.If you’ve watched the summer olympics you probably have seen the sport of archery. I think it is really neat that I can participate in that sport too.
Being part of a team is a lot of fun! I have really enjoyed attending tournaments with my team.
