Brooklyn Johnson, April – Have you ever been tired of doing something over and over again? Sometimes, when we do the same things day after day, we can start to become bored of it. This can be common in archery. However, there are archery games that can be used to make practices more fun, while also continuing to work on certain skills.
One very common game in archery is called Last Man Standing. This game is simple to play, lots of fun, and allows archers to keep practicing. The game begins with every archer on the line with a partner. After shooting, the two archers go down to determine who has the higher score. Whoever won goes on one side of the range, and whoever didn’t goes on the other side. The game continues with the winners shooting against other people who have won, until there is one last person, hence, the “Last Man Standing.” Another game that is similar to this game is Boys Versus Girls. This can be a very competitive and fun game that brings archers closer together.
Recently, my team tried shooting at dart faces, rather than the regular bullseye targets. This was very unique and like no other game we had ever played before. It was fun to shoot at something other than the original target faces, and it also helped us learn how to adjust our aiming point to the new target.
Not only does shooting at a dart face help with aiming, but balloon shooting does as well. Putting balloons on a target and trying to shoot them is a very fun and resilient game, considering that it can be challenging to hit the balloons. Being able to continue shooting after bad shots is extremely important in archery and a great life skill.
One more game that is competitive and brings teammates closer together is Tic-Tac-Toe. This game, like the dart faces and balloons, requires a little preparation in advance. All that needs to be done is to draw a tic-tac-toe board on the back of a regular target face. Once this is completed, archers can enjoy trying to win at the familiar game, while also trying to perform accuracy in each shot.
Many of these games are very fun for archers to play but also help them practice their skills. For example, in some games, archers can improve their shooting by working on getting tighter groups. Not only that, but many of these games require archers to concentrate hard on what they are doing and is a great opportunity for team bonding.
So, you may be experiencing some tiredness in shooting archery, and I have been there too. If you are, try one of these games. You never know, it might just make your love for archery grow even stronger.
