My name is Anna Rawe, and I am currently a senior at Jefferson High School in Missouri. I was actually a student contributor back in 2022. I have been involved in my school’s archery program for the past five years. I was very excited when I found out that we were getting a NASP® program because of my extensive background in other shooting sports. I competed in pistol and rifle for about 3 years, and I am currently a competitive shotgun shooter. Since I was eight years old, I have had a love for all things shooting. I grew up hearing stories from my mom about her archery experiences, and I was very excited to try it on my own. My mom was a competitive archer for many years shooting with IBO, and she went on to many national championships. I was very excited when she took the coaching position for the new program at my school.
I have had some amazing experiences through the archery program. I am friends with kids that I probably would have never known were even at my school if it wasn’t for archery. This sport is something that I deeply enjoy, and I strive to be better at with every practice. This past archery season my team was fortunate enough to compete at the State competition as well as progress to Nationals in Sandy, Utah. It was such an amazing journey, and I am very proud of myself and my teammates for all that was accomplished.
My 2024 season looks a little different for me this year than it has in years past. Unfortunately, I have an injury that prevents me from being able to shoot as much as I would like to. I will still be there for my teammates being their biggest cheerleader at every tournament that we attend. While it is difficult to sit on the sidelines and not be able to compete, I still want to be there for my teammates whenever they need something. Whether it’s needing help figuring out a new aim point or help with a new technique, I want them all to know they can come to me. In the short amount of time that our Varsity team has been together, we have already become a family. Everyone on the team has a very important quality that makes the team what it is, and I truly believe that we would not be the family we are without everyone on the team. I am very excited to be back again as a student contributor and cannot wait to continue to share my knowledge and experiences with others!
