My name is Anna C. I am in 8th grade at Jones Middle School. I started the NASP program in 4th grade, and I have been shooting ever since. I have competed in 23 NASP tournaments to date. I also started shooting Recurve and Genesis bows in 4-H Archery last year, and have competed in several outdoor tournaments. My dad has been one of my coaches since I got into the sport and it has helped me a lot since I can practice with him at home. He is a great coach because he is patient and he wants to see every archer improve.

I have loved archery from the minute I picked up a bow at Jones Elementary. It’s always been a fun challenge! I wasn’t very good when I started, but if you truly love something, you’ll take the time and effort to get better at it! If anyone is thinking about joining archery, I would encourage them to try it because archery is more than just a sport. It can help improve your mental strength too. It makes you realize how much your attitude affects your shooting. When you learn to let things go (like a bad shot) that skill will help you in a lot of different areas of your life.
Even though we shoot individually, I have enjoyed being a part of a team. I feel more confident when my teammates cheer me on, and I enjoy cheering them on too. After high school, I would really love to get a scholarship for archery and continue to shoot in college. My goal for this year’s NASP season is to get my average in the 280’s and eventually shoot a score of 290 or better in a tournament.
