The National Archery in the School’s Program is gearing up for another record-breaking, action- packed series of tournaments this spring! In fact, there will be 1,099 local, regional, and state tournaments this season. Combined participation in these tournaments will involve about 333,060 archers! The NASP® Nationals, two of the biggest tournaments in the archery program are set to take place beginning in April! The Western NASP® Nationals will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Salt Palace Exposition Center, April 26-27. NASP® expects two thousand kids from the Western states to shoot in the second year of this new and highly anticipated tournament. Following in May, the Eastern NASP® National Tournament will take place at its traditional location, the Kentucky Exposition Center, May 9-11. It is expected that a whopping 14,500 archers will join this granddaddy of all archery tournaments to display what they’ve learned during their school archery lessons this year. School teams may register for either tournament but may only participate in one or the other each year. Once both tournaments have concluded, students who place with top honors will be invited to advance to the NASP® Championship on July 26-27 at Nashville’s Music City Center in TN. Scores from both the Eastern and Western tournaments will be compared to determine scholarship shoot-off contestants to shoot in Nashville. New this, year, the day before the Championships in Nashville, on the Thursday the 25th, an “Open” competition will be conducted for ANY current NASP® student to register for. The top boys and girls of this day of “open” competition will qualify to stay for the championship the next day.
