NASP® and its partner, Easton Archery care about academics!
The largest youth archery organization in history has experienced yet another historic milestone. Despite the recent global impact of the Coronavirus and most schools operating virtually, NASP® educators and coaches took appropriate steps to nominate and recognize the academic performance of their student archers using local criteria. At the close of the enrollment window on April 1, 31,961 students were enrolled by their coaches as NASP® Academic Archers from 45 US states, 4 Canadian provinces and several schools from the British Virgin Islands!
Dr. Tommy Floyd, NASP® Vice President and General Manager said, “We know that the COVID19 virus has interrupted educational efforts all across our nation and the world. Many schools are operating virtually, and many campuses are currently closed. Despite the impact of the unexpected closures, schools are working hard to continue to educate students. NASP® coaches are taking advantage of Academic Archer to recognize their student archers for academic success and we so grateful that they do! It is so important for us to maintain the tie with NASP® to the educational success of student archers.”
“In our 2017student survey, student response data indicated that over 40% of our kids attributed NASP® as a motivating factor for them to work harder in the classroom. Programs like Academic Archer recognize this hard work – but we know that if we could get the word out to additional schools, more hard working students could receive due recognition! In doing so, we truly believe that NASP® continues to achieve one of its long-standing goals of helping to motivate students for success in the classroom. It is our intention to increasingly send the strongest of messages about how teaching archery as part of the in-school curriculum can be important to the mission of educators. We believe that this results in a greater likelihood that NASP® will be around to motivate countless generations of young students!”
NASP® President, Roy Grimes offered, “One of our favorite outcomes for student archers participating in NASP®, has become the annual recognition of NASP®’s Academic Archers, sponsored by our great partner, Easton Technical Products. We congratulate these academically responsible archers and are grateful to their teachers and coaches who took the time to register their students during the 2019-2020 school and archery season.”
Carri Garrett of Easton Technical Products said, “Easton is extremely proud to sponsor a program that is so beneficial in acknowledging the hard work that the NASP® students put forth in their education while enjoying the great sport of Archery. Congratulations to all the 2020 Academic Archers!”
Academic Archer will open on September 1, 2020 for the 2020/2021 school year.
