Madison Evans, April –
As the archery season wraps up, there is one thing you should put on the top of your priority list, and that is to thank your coaches. There are so many different ways to thank them but a heartfelt written letter can be the ticket to showing your appreciation. Here are a few tips for crafting the perfect thank you letter to your coaches.
Step 1 – Tell them why you appreciate them:
Throughout the years, I have had many archery coaches, each with their own unique positive trait. Some coaches like to crack jokes while others hand out nice compliments. To start off your letter, tell them what you appreciate about them. Example, “I appreciate the kind words you tell me when I am feeling down.”
Step 2 – Give a personal story:
Along with the appreciation, you can then tell a short, or long, story about one time when they helped you. Make sure to go into detail about why that made you feel better and/or happier. Example, “One time, I was feeling upset about my last shooting round. When I got back to the sitting area behind the line, you already had funny jokes lined up to help cheer me up. I felt so grateful that you did that and I ended up shooting better due to your help!”
Step 3 – Share how they have helped you become a better archer:
The number one thing coaches are there for is to help. So, sharing how much you like their help can be a great way to show your appreciation. Coaches have helped me very much throughout my archery career and without them, I would not be shooting as well as I am right now. I have to admit something, at the start of the season I had a really bad rushing problem. As soon as I pulled back the sting, I released it, just like that. That meant I didn’t have enough time to anchor, aim, and do my shot-set up. But, since first noticing this mistake, I have been working with coaches from my team to stop this issue. My letter will definitely thank the coaches who have helped me correct this specific problem.
Step 4 – Let them know archery is a better place with them as a coach:
I believe that coaches play a big role in your love for the sport. They help you grow and learn but also can teach how to continue the love for your sport, in this case archery. Write about how they helped you learn to like archery more. Example, “Without you, my passion for archery wouldn’t be the same. You have helped teach me how to not only shoot my best, but how to move forward with my archery career.”
Step 5 – Write “Thanks/Thank you” in the biggest letters possible:
When I tell you the bigger the better, I mean it. Writing “Thanks/Thank you” in the biggest way possible can help show how grateful you are to have them as a coach.
Archery is a really fun sport but, what makes it better is the coaches. So, at the end of the archery season, why not give them a letter to show your appreciation? Show your thanks to the coaches and all they do to help and support you.
